I never paid much notice to them,
since 214 I’ve had nothing to give them,
I know if they started early this year,
I’m sure there elsewhere in Independence,
but I noticed the most in front of Walmart,
last night the first thing I noticed when I pulled in the parking lot was too humongous fire engines,
As I left my car seat of my car and stood,
I saw something most awesome,
No it wasn’t Santa and his reindeer,
Rudolph wasn’t strutting his stuff,
Four young firemen,
Dressed in their fireman suits,
All ringing bells,
Fireman ringing the salvation army’s bells anticipating donations,
This year there have been a multitude of different people,
One day there was an older man,
One day and older lady,
Another day three young women sitting never rising with blankets on their laps ringing their bells,
Anyone having wore of my country’s uniform,
If I had any money I would have given it to the firemen,
I hope they do it again ,
It’s nice to see our young heroes,
Young man who would stand up for their family,
Who risk life and limb entering a fire,
It was a totally memorable memory of bell ringers in Independence Iowa,
