beautiful calico
individual
escaped Cedar Rapids from a broken cage,
missing two weeks,
survived,
caught in live trap,
Humane Alliance,
had been with a red cat,
fixed,
last year,
came to my home,
would pee on food she didn’t like,
standoffish,
always afraid then,
chased by others,
lived above my washer,
Lived her Mom and the kitties,Daughney,Penny the cat,Lady,Emily, and Drake in a little room,
once out of safety of that room always above the washer,
came down for water one day,
caught,
found huddled by toilet,
scared and living in fear,
I never knew why!
like an animal on the Serengeti,
other cats chased her,
convenient fear,human cared for nothing,
human cared for her fragil life,
her human afraid to leave a motel to find a home where she could have her cats again,
so they stay with me,Honey,
jeopardized my home,
destroyed my carpets,
scratched my walls,
then she was living on a five gallon bucket next to me,
still scared,
still hounded ,
others still hated her,
I don’t know why,
she’d climb onto my medicine cabinet,
shit on my wall,
her brother pushed her,
Sadie my cat chased her,
yesterday she fell from the top of a of two totes,
heard a fight and I was in the kitchen,
I couldn’t be at two places at once,
she couldn’t breath I didn’t know if she had broken ribs ,
I didn’t know,
beautiful calico died in my arms,
All her old human, who didn’t care where she was , could say to me was, I had them for 15 years and no one died!
cared for by her daughter while she worked,
she didn’t have that for 15 years,
Honey was just two years,
human did bother to fix her brother,
I couldn’t ketch her brother without help,
Honey the Cat,
Honey the kitten,
Honey my cat!
everyone I love that dies takes a piece of my heart,
she’s gone yet she remains,
her spirit flies high,
her spirit remains,
we are not a shell,
we’re not a body,
we should all be loved and cared for,
we should all die in the arms of someone who loves us,
Honey did,
I will never understand her journey,
she was lost and then found,
caught a return,
suffered and died,
loved,
by this poet,
This is my Honey
trash bag in pocket
