Do you remember life before the internet?
Children knew what the outside was,
We played in it in the morning before breakfast before I went to school,
After school after homework we were outside until mother couldn’t have us out there any longer and supper was ready,
In the fall we played outside until our faces look purple and her lips looked weird in the street lights,
We heard nothing from our friends at school until they called up,
We didn’t watch TV all day,
played games there was no internet,
The games we played were hearts and spades and Tilly winks and marbles, kerplunk headache, life, and sorry,
We read books,
Drew pictures,
We played Scrabble and hangman,
The reason gunsmoke was on the air for 20 years because we watched it,
I dream of genie and The Brady bunch , Partridge family and eight is enough,
Comedies and family shows,
Pot was something other kids did,
We went to drive-in movies ,
Telephone booths which were booths with telephones,
There was no IMAX,
Cars didn’t have seat belts,
No speed limit,
Slinkies were all the rage,
Family’s did things together even puzzles,
Walter Cronkite was on the 6:00 news,
I watch news at 6:00 every night my dad,
Saw the body bags coming home of our serviceman,
Hula hoops were outside,
My kid Sister played Chinese jump rope,
No sound like dishes are outside of homes little or big,
My folks had three farms,
We did chores,
Allowances weren’t given to us we earned them,
The best part for me before the internet was that my mom and my baby sister were alive,
Nothing else really matters,
